Welcome This Sun. March 2nd: REV. DR. JOHN FIENE & SOLVIEG
WELCOME REV. DR. JOHN FIENE THIS SUNDAY: Rev. Dr. John Fiene has been a Church Planter of Grace Lutheran Church in Sandy City, Utah, and later, Advent Lutheran Church, Zionsville, Indiana. Both congregations, subsequent to their own founding, initiated successful new mission congregations. He recently served as pastor at University Lutheran Chapel on the University of Colorado campus in Boulder, Pastor Fiene has served as Vice-President of the Indiana District of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Rocky Mountain District. He has taught on the subject of mission planting as an adjunct professor at Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana as well as various pastors’ conferences.
Pastor Fiene and his beloved wife Solvieg Fiene (nie. Preus) currently live in Carlsbad and they have four children (three in California) and eight grand children.
CELEBRATIONS FOR PASTOR D & JUDY
The congregation is invited to celebrate the service of Pastor Dennis and Judy on Sun. Feb. 23rd between and after the church services. This will be Pastor’s last service, and special refreshments will be served.
You are also invited to attend a celebration mixer at the home of Roger and Terra Teat in Carlsbad on Fri. Feb. 28th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Please RSVP HERE, and the address and details will be emailed to you.

MEN’S FELLOWSHIP BREAKFAST: Sat. March 1st from 9:00am -10:45am. Join us for a time of fellowship and men’s study. RSVP and select your (optional) breakfast sandwich from Inglorious Bagels.
Ash Wednesday Worship: Wed. March 5th
ASH WEDNESDAY WORSHIP SERVICE: Lent is a season when we look at our lives in view of God’s mercy toward us in the sacrifice of his Son for us on the cross. We, in turn, are called by God, especially during this time of repentance and reflection, to be living sacrifices for him, displaying our devotion to him in word and deed. Jesus helps us to see the richness of God’s mercy in his life, death and resurrection. Join us for worship with communion and imposition of ashes on March 5th at 5:30pm. Then starting on Wed. March 12th, join us weekly for a family style dinner at 5:30pm. Afterwards, we will view a segment of a video series titled “The Easter Experience”, followed by an Elder-led discussion.
Holy Hackers Golf: Sat. March 8th
HOLY HACKERS: The next golf outing will be on Sat. March 8th. We play best ball, so all levels of golfers are welcome to join. Email Rhonda to play.
LWM “Ashes & Hearts” Tues. March 11th
LUTHERAN WOMEN IN MISSION will meet on Tues. March 11th at 9:30am. Following the meeting, Christine Vogelsang will present “Ashes and Hearts” a program for Lent. Christine is an author from Escondido and will also have her books available. Please bring a “Spa” item for our Rally basket.
Date Night: Sat. March 15th
