Of course He is! No question! But guest pastor, Christopher Hilken reminds us that the definitions of good in our culture most often do not align with the definitions of good as revealed in God’s Word. And when we embrace His definition, it offers so much more peace, assurance, and hope as we face a life here that is often filled with what seems to be the opposite of good.

Surrender normally means defeat. But from God’s perspective, if we are surrendering into the care of the only hope for survival, it is instead a move of thankful, courageous, victory. We will look at many of the most famous “surrenders” in Biblical history and enjoy God’s invitation to joyfully surrender into His care in this life and into eternity.
July 17 – Aug 21, 2022
What if … … Our lives were identified with a fish Tank? the tank size – the habitat – the water – the other fish and sea creatures we were swimming with – the food we were eating. In this series we swim with this metaphor for life and examine what God’s word says about each of those important pieces of our life in the Tank.
June 26 – July 10, 2022
In the last few verses of Ephesians chapter 4, Paul gives a profound message of how to live as a follower of Yahweh, but it is so much more than about what we do and don’t do, it’s about how completely dependent we are on His work in our lives to ever be able to do anything that truly aligns with His will for us.
June 5 – June 19, 2022
The ancient Pentecost Festival provides a backdrop for this 3 week series to study the Triune God, Father, Son, and God the Holy Spirit and His role in our lives; moving us from unbelief to committed disciple. We study those categories of the work of the Holy Spirit; the Filling of the Holy Spirit, Fruit of the Spirit, Gifts of the Spirit in both eras, before and since Jesus’ earthly ministry.
March 6 – April 10, 2022
The most important target to hit as a disciple of Jesus is BEING in a relationship with Him. We know what it’s like to have the desire to grow in our relationship with God and yet feel stagnant. The Being Challenge will lead you to a stronger relationship with God through simple challenges that focus on the 5 keystone habits of Jesus: community, scripture, prayer, solitude and church.
March 2 – April 17, 2022
Lent is a season when we take a look at our lives in view of God’s mercy toward us in the sacrifice of his Son for us on the cross. We, in turn, are called by God, especially during this time of repentance and reflection, to be living sacrifices for him, displaying our devotion to him in word and deed. Jesus helps us to see the richness of God’s mercy in his life, death and resurrection. The services in this worship series for Lent focus our eyes of faith on the meaning behind God’s mercy made manifest in Christ.
January 23 – February 20, 2022
The gospel is meant to be shared everywhere! In this series, we look at some of the most common things that can steal our joy during the holidays while also remembering that Christ can restore what sin seeks to take.
Sundays, November 7-21, 2021
Whenever we make a purchase, we get a receipt. A receipt is a reminder that a transaction has taken place. In this series, we’ll do a “receipt review” in light of what God’s Word says about stewardship and ask: What do my receipts say about the transactions I make and the heart I have toward God and money?

Sundays, May 2 – July 4, 2021
The Ten Commandments are often portrayed as little more than rules that must be followed simply because they were given by divine fiat. But these rules have not only a God behind them, but a loving God behind them. It is out of God’s tender heart that he gives us these commandments, wanting what is best for us. In this series, we look not only at the Ten Commandments, but at the loving reason behind them.
Sundays, February 21 – April 4, 2021

Each service explores the meaning, history and spiritual inspiration associated with the location highlighted. Learn things you may not have known before as you grow to understand more deeply the hard road our Lord took that the way to heaven might be open to us.
Sundays, January 24 – February 7, 2021
During this pandemic, leadership is needed now more than ever. No matter who you are, someone is looking to you to help them through. Christ’s ministry consisted of three ways He led us – as a prophet (someone who proclaimed God’s Word), as a priest (someone who sacrificed on our behalf), and as a king (someone who rules according to God’s ways). Christ, in turn, gives to us what He has done. He is a prophet who calls us to speak His Word as His witnesses. He is a priest who calls us to offer our lives as sacrifices. And He is a king who gives us a kingdom. In this series, we discuss what it looks like to lead in these ways.
Sundays, December 6-20, 2020
& Christmas Eve

We take a look at the things that matter most to our faith and should therefore be not only at the top of our minds, but deep in our hearts.
Sundays, September 20 – October 18, 2020
Throughout this pandemic, church buildings have been closed. As things begin to re-open, the Church has a chance to ask: What have we learned? What can we do differently? In this series, we will look at the heart of who we are called to be as God’s people so that, as our churches re-open, more people can be welcomed!
Sundays, July 19 – September 6, 2020
Trials will surely come for us, but take heart. There is victory to be shared! Through this eight-week dive into the book of First Peter, we find a letter full of promise for everyone who has an ear to hear.

There’s no limit on hope. You can discover a whole lot to smile about if you know where to look. And we can help you find it! Don’t let life get you down. Stay joyful. Stay hopeful. And Stay Positive!
Sundays, May 10 – 24, 2020
How do we remain hopeful in a world that seems hopelessly broken? How do we continue to trust a God that seems conspicuously absent? How do we find peace in a world that is spinning out of control? If you’ve ever asked questions like these, you’re not alone and you’re not the first. The uncertainty we face today is no different from the uncertainty faced by the men and women of the Bible. And like them, uncertainty can cause us to question God’s faithfulness, His presence and His concern. In this 3-part series, we’re reminded that . . . He’s *Still* Got the Whole World in His Hands.
Sundays, April 19 – May 3, 2020
Worry—it’s universal. It’s as much a part of life as breathing. Yet Jesus said, Don’t. Don’t worry! Easier said than done…In this 3-part series, we will explore what Jesus had to say about worry. You’ll discover where worry comes from, why it’s so difficult to overcome, and what you can do to conquer it. It’s particularly relevant for this time in which we find ourselves. We will look at an Old Testament story about a man who was challenged with a single question—a question that brought a new perspective to his worries. That question may be the key to overcoming worry in your life as well.
Sundays, March 1 – April 5, 2020
Most people think of the soul as a nebulous part of them that is mysteriously internal to them. The Bible, however, often uses the word “soul” to describe the whole of who we are. The soul is what holds us together. When God creates the first man, who becomes a “living being,” the Hebrew word behind this phrase in the book of Genesis is the word for “soul.” When any part of us is off – be it our emotions, our bodies, or our minds – our souls are off.
Midweek, Feb 26 – April 10, 2020
Imagine that a friend or family member who is unfamiliar with your Christian faith asks you to summarize the gospel. What would you say? The Apostle Peter calls us to be prepared always to give a reason for the hope we have as Christians (1 Peter 3:15). As followers of Jesus we have the best news in the world to share. But are we prepared to share it? During this season of Lent, we’re going to work together to formulate faithful Christian confessions of the gospel; the kind that could be said in about seven words. We’ll use a format that will allow us to enter into a creative dialogue in a Bible Study / Devotion setting after enjoying a meal together. Come join in the conversation!
January 19 – February 23, 2020
According to the Bible, love is much more than a feeling you have, a place you fall, or a treasure you find.  Love is something that you do. In this series, inspired by Bob Goff’s book Love Does, we explore what God’s love looks like and discuss how we can reflect God’s love in our lives.
January 5 – 12, 2020
Have you ever felt like something’s missing? Are you longing for a clearer sense of purpose in your life? You were created for significance, not just survival. Together, let’s figure out What’s Next?
December 1 – 25, 2019
One of the favorite sights of the Christmas season is all the Christmas lights! There are Christmas lights on homes and in stores. But for all the peace and serenity Christmas lights may communicate, the Christmas season can feel anything but peaceful and serene. It can feel overwhelming and burdening! In this series, we look at how to make Christmas light – cutting through the clutter of the season and getting back to what matters most. Join us every Sunday in December and also on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for this sermon series.
October 13 – November 3, 2019
We all can be overcome by temptation – sometimes over and over again. Often, we try to tackle temptation through sheer willpower. We simply “try really hard” to resist sin. But our own willpower can never overcome sin. Thankfully, God’s will has the power to transform our hearts and change our lives.
September 15 – 29, 2019
Got questions? … God has answers! In this series we look at a few of the most popular questions about God – “Is There a God?” “Is God Good?” and “How Do I Relate to God?” These are questions you don’t want to wonder about. So join us and discover what God has to say.
August 25 – September 8, 2019
We live in a world that saps us and drains us at every turn. If it’s not the demanding work schedule, it’s the cost of living. If it’s not the cut-throat competition, it’s the hair-pulling traffic. And if it’s not strife in the news or on social media, it’s strife in our relationships. Isn’t there something that can fill us up rather than wear us down? Yes there is, but it’s not a something, it’s a Someone.
June 23 – July 7, 2019
“Real. Present. God.” summarizes the Psalm of the Reformation, Psalm 46. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Ps. 46:1). The only real God, the Triune God, is truly present in the person of Jesus. The only real God, the Triune God, entered the real world to save us from sin. The only real God, the Triune God, is present and powerful in the troubles of life.
April 28 – June 16, 2019
What if we stopped reading about Jesus and started putting his Red Letter words into practice? What if following Jesus is not as complicated as you think? What if we stopped trying to find our purpose and our place? What if by putting the words of Jesus into practice, we discover who He is and who He has created us to be? If you ask these and other questions, then join us as we take the Red Letter Challenge.
March 10 – April 18, 2019
Lent is a season that calls us to reflect on the great love that Christ has for us – a love so great that it moves Him to die. We, of course, are not only to reflect on Christ’s love, but reflect out His love to the world. As Jesus Himself commands: “Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another” (John 13:34). In this series, we look at some of the ways we can reflect Jesus’ love, using Paul’s description of what love is from 1 Corinthians 13.
February 3 – February 24, 2019
Do we really believe that miracles happen? For many of us, if we’re honest, the answer is “no.” Around Jesus, though, they happened a lot. Eyesight to the blind. Diseases healed. The dead raised to life. Miracles happened. They still happen today. If we open our eyes, we can see the miracles God is doing around us, and if we look with the eyes of faith, we might even see them in our own lives.
December 2 – December 25, 2018
This Advent, let us ask the same question as the hymn, seeking to get to know the identity of this Child in the manger. Join us for our weekly sermon series as we answer the question “what Child is this?”
September 2 – November 25, 2018
Charles Dickens begins his classic, A Tale of Two Cities, saying, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” This is not only a synopsis of the time before the French Revolution, it is a synopsis of all history. Every time carries with it good and bad. The book of Genesis explains why this is the case. Ever since sin entered the world, the best and the worst have locked horns. The book of Genesis looks at the tension between the best and the worst and offers hope that the best is yet to come.
May 20 – June 24, 2018
Daring faith requires taking risk. It requires the courage to step up and face challenges . . . and to face the unknown, but to do so with trust and confidence in God. It might be easier to stay in your comfort zone, but when you bravely step out to where God has called you, you allow God to accomplish through you the good work He has prepared in advance for you to do.
Join us at Redeemer by the Sea for our newest series, Daring Faith, and learn what it means to have a bold, unshakable faith that gives you the courage to impact the world around you.
April 8 – May 13, 2018
As his followers, Jesus calls us to be witnesses – to tell our stories. We don’t have to be experts in theology or know all the answers about the Bible. We do have to be willing to tell people why we believe, and how we have been changed by the hope that is in us. Really, that’s what it means to live life on mission; to see opportunities right in front of us – opportunities to tell our stories in a way that will change someone’s destiny. Welcome to your Life on Mission.
February 11 – March 25, 2018
Lent is a time of reflection and repentance before the celebration of Easter. For centuries, Christians have recalled the significance of Jesus’ crucifixion on Good Friday and his subsequent resurrection from the grave on Easter Sunday. Join us for this special series on Sunday as we take these 40 days and remember Christ’s sacrifice for us.
November 29 – December 25
Let’s be honest – sometimes the journey of life can get long and difficult. And this hectic time of year can pile on more challenges and stress. The good news is – there is hope!
Mary and Joseph took the first Christmas journey 2,000 years ago, and Jesus’ humble birth was not what the people of Israel were expecting. The people were weary of waiting for their Savior. Sometimes we also give up too soon on what we’re believing for.
Join us for this Advent series called The Star: A Journey to Christmas, featuring stories of people in the Bible and of people today in which God visits in unexpected ways. He fills our lives’ journeys with hope, love, joy, and peace, just as He did that first Christmas.
September 10 – November 26
Do you ever wish you could reboot your life like you reboot your computer? What is it that has gone wrong in your life that you wish you could go back and undo? This series will guide us in a time to reflect on what is wrong in our lives and to “reboot” with the only One who can give us a truly fresh start, Jesus Christ. In this series, we’ll look at some of life’s most common regrets and then talk about how repentance can bring forgiveness, hope, and comfort in Christ.
July 3 – September 3
Everyone struggles with experiencing the joy the Bible has promised us. Many of us, even Christians, endure life rather than enjoy life. We think the joy comes when we get to heaven, but the Bible says God created us to be joyful people beginning right now. This study in the book of Philippians will help us understand 9 different ways God wants to bring joy into our lives …
April 30 – June 18
We live in a world that is full of myths!
The most dangerous lies are the ones we believe because we don’t even know they’re not true! Sadly, our culture has bought into many lies from Satan that are downright destructive…
The grass is greener on the other side. I’m not my brother’s keeper. What’s right for you is not necessarily right for me: you have your truth and I have mine. My scale is broken.
In this series, we deconstruct some of Satan’s most popular lies so that God’s Word may not only reconstruct the truth, but bring hope to many lives.
Sundays, March 5 – April 9 and
Maundy Thursday April 13
Good Friday April 14
As a Lenten lead-in to the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, Standing at the Cross will focus on portions of sermons Martin Luther actually preached during Lent and Holy Week and Easter in the parishes where he served. As we stand with Luther at the foot of the cross each week, we contemplate the ways in which we stand firm in the faith as followers of Christ during this holy season.

Christ is the cornerstone of our faith.  This means the foundation of our life as the people of God is built upon Him. In this series, we take a look at the teachings of Scripture that comprise the foundation of our faith and see how they center on Christ and shape our everyday lives.

The title “Keeping Christmas” is inspired by the final paragraph of Dickens’ well-known and beloved book “A Christmas Carol.”

“He had no further intercourse with Spirits, but lived upon the Total Abstinence Principle, ever afterwards; and it was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim observed, God Bless Us, Every One!”

We do not know how to “keep Christmas well”, if our stress, spending, and spiritual celebrations are the evidence.  We need to know how the Lord would have us “keep,” or observe, the birth of our Savior. We will describe and discover how we, like Scrooge, have failed to keep Christmas, and how we, like he, are in need of a visitation; not by three spirits, but by the Holy Spirit, with the result that we find and celebrate what the Lord most wants us to have – and keep – this Christmas.

Is it Time to Get God Back in Focus?
Some say He’s everywhere, in everything.   Others believe He’s far away in heaven, minding His own business.  If God is always with us, why is He so hard to find?  Could it be that our “spiritual eyesight” needs a little adjusting? Join us at Redeemer by the Sea, where we’re learning to sharpen our vision.  If you can’t see God, maybe it’s time for a closer look.
Suffering savior1920x

Feb. 10 – Mar. 25, 2016

During the season of Lent, the church focuses on the humiliation of Jesus Christ, the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53. To the unbelieving eye, His crucifixion is nothing more than a sad story of defeat. To those who believe, however, it is the joyous story of our salvation. In the humble appearance of the cross we see by faith God’s power being revealed. We see the “arm of Yahweh” outstretched once more on behalf of all people. Rather than feel sorry for Jesus during Lent, we praise and thank Him for “carrying our sorrows” and being “wounded for our transgressions,” knowing that He did all this willingly. We repent for our frequent lack of faith in the suffering and death of Jesus, as well as for our failure to see God’s glory revealed in Jesus’ humiliation on behalf of man. And we trust in the universal atonement that Jesus made through death for us and for our salvation.

Jan. 17 – Feb. 7, 2016
In this sermon series we will look at four phrases known as the “Solas” of our faith.  They summarize teachings that we as a Church affirm and believe the Scriptures teach. The phrases themselves can be traced back to the 16th Century Reformation. Each contains a form of the word “Sola” (a Latin word meaning “alone”) and summarizes a foundational truth in regards to how God saves sinners.  Join us!

What is it about the book of Revelation? It draws people to it with its mysterious intrigue – and yet people are often fearful of wading into the depths of its content.  It is our hope that through this 8 week message series at Redeemer you will come away with a better understanding of this well known, yet often avoided, book of the Bible … and that you will come away encouraged.  For all its talk of judgment and destruction, the book of Revelation is ultimately a message of hope for its hearers.

We’ll examine the Biblical account as well as the scientific evidence.  We’ll consider and discuss the presuppositions that shape both sides of the debate, and we’ll compare and contrast the often conflicting conclusions that are drawn.

When you think of the Holy Spirit, what comes to your mind? Perhaps more importantly, what happens in your life? Is what you know about the Holy Spirit just information – or does it lead to transformation? In this message series, we will learn about The Holy Spirit, who Scripture describes as a Helper to those who believe Jesus is the Son of God. In John’s gospel Jesus promises the Holy Spirit and describes the work that the Holy Spirit will accomplish in and through His disciples. We are confident that with the Holy Spirit living inside us, as believers, we can be living examples of Christ’s love each day.
